Eight High School Students Shot Near Philadelphia Bus Station

Aftermath of shooting at Oxford High School in Michigan

Eight high school students were shot over 30 times near a Philadelphia bus station on Wednesday. The shooting took place when three masked males exited a dark blue Hyundai Sonata and opened fire at the teens near a SEPTA bus stop, as reported by the Philadelphia Police Department. Surveillance footage captured the males driving away from the scene after the shooting, and the alleged shooters are currently at large.

During a press conference, Philadelphia Police Deputy Commissioner of Investigations revealed that a fourth individual was in the car during the incident. The car, which had been reported stolen, was recovered by highway patrol individuals later that night. The victims, including a 15-year-old girl and seven teenage boys aged 15 to 17, were swiftly taken to local hospitals. One 17-year-old male, shot nine times, remains in critical condition.

The police department is actively investigating the case, examining evidence left at the scene, including three different guns. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. The shooters targeted the crowd, with the most critical victim appearing to be a focal point.

Fortunately, no one inside the two buses near the area was injured, despite the buses being struck by gunfire. This incident follows a shooting at the same SEPTA bus station earlier in the week, where a 17-year-old lost his life, and four others were injured.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in apprehending the suspects. The community is asked to keep the victims in their thoughts and prayers as they continue to recover from this senseless act of violence.
