Over the years, Edinburgh has been a hit location with Hollywood movie production crews for filming due to the iconic sights that the city has to offer.
From Marvel to Trainspotting, the capital city has been home to Hollywood actors, actresses and film crews for some time now.
Locations in and around the surrounding areas of Edinburgh have been used, from dark alleys down the Royal Mile to Princess Street. There has been at least one camera team present over the years near you.

At Edinburgh Live we collated a list of the locations that you can see Scotland’s capital city, on the big screen.
MARVEL
First on the list is the Marvel films, the production team behind the marvel series, loved Edinburgh so much that they came back twice.
Two of the movies in the series, Infinity War and Endgame were shot in Edinburgh with camera teams closing streets such as Cockburn Street and the Royal Mile for days at a time.
In the two movies you see Edinburgh castle, St Giles Cathedral, City Chambers and even Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station; Where the opening fight scene takes place which includes Captain America, played by Chris Evans and many other Hollywood A-listers such as Scarlett Johansson and Elizabeth Olson.
FAST & FURIOUS 9: THE FAST SAGA
This film will be well-known to car enthusiasts and fans of the long running movie series, Fast and Furious.
For weeks, The Royal Mile, Cockburn Street, Bristo Square and many other locations were seen with expensive cars being drove down them with none other than Dominic Toretto, Vin Diesel behind the wheel.
As always in a Fast and Furious film, Vin Diesel could be seen jumping from roof to roof in the film. This gave spectacular views of the city’s iconic skyline.
THE DA VINCI CODE
Just outside of Edinburgh in Roslin, the Collegiate Church of St, better known as the Rosslyn Chapel was used in the Da Vinci Code. The movie was released in 2006 and was a hit at the box office.
Hollywood A-lister, Tom Hanks spent days filming in the chapel and said it "was all one could imagine or hope for".
After the film was released, Rosslyn Chapel saw tens of thousands of visitors who were keen to see it and experience the mystery of the chapel for themselves.
EUROVISION: THE STORY of FIRE SAGA
Featuring, Will Ferrell, released on Netflix is a fictitious story about two Icelanders making it to grand final of the ever so famous singing competition.
Almost all of the scenes were shot in Edinburgh with many of the cities iconic streets making the final cut of the film such as Victoria, Princes Street, the Mound, The royal Mile and Albany Street in the New Town.
The former nightclub, Atik just off of Tollcross was also used featuring the very well-known disco floor room where Will Ferrell was seen in the movie cutting shapes.

OUTLAW KING
Another Netflix film that was filmed in Edinburgh was Outlaw King that features Chris Pine who played Robert the Bruce.
The film revolves itself round Roberts rebellion against the English. The movie starts after the death of William Wallace and follows Robert from his coronation to his annexation and finally concluding at his victory at the battle of Bannockburn.
Many locations in and around Edinburgh were used such as Seacliff Beach in East Lothian which is located just outside of North Berwick. Craigmillar Castle which is just a short bud drive away from the city was used for countless scenes in the movie.
THE LOST KING
This is a feature film that was shot entirely in Edinburgh with the city doubling as Leicester. Locations all over the city used are seen in the movie.
However, this is a bit irregular as the movie is about the discovery of the remains of King Richard III who was eventually found beneath a car park in Leicester.
Nonetheless there is a link to the city as Edinburgh resident and writer, Philippa Langley spent many years in search for the former king and finally found him in 2012.
ONE DAY
At the start and end of the film viewers will be able to see shots of the New Town alongside Anne Hathaway graduation from the University of Edinburgh.
At the beginning, Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess play students in Edinburgh and commence into a relationship which would span a lifetime.
Danish film director of the movie, Lone Sherfig told Film Edinburgh that her experience of filming in Edinburgh gave her "some of the best work days ever, which just makes me want to come back.” Fans of the movie will be glad to hear that a TV series is in the works as an adaption of the movie.
TRAINSPOTTING 1 & 2
last on our list is of course, Trainspotting. Although, the first movie was set in Edinburgh alongside the iconic scene of Euan McGregor running down Princes Street being shot in the city, most of it was in fact shot in Glasgow and some parts in London.
However, in the second instalment of the movies, Edinburgh was extensively used including locations such as Edinburgh Airport, Holyrood Park, the Forth Road Bridge, the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh’s biggest nightclub, Atik and of course Regent Bridge where the iconic scene when Mark Renton is hit by the car.
