Eid at Croke Park: Getting there and everything you need to know

This weekend will see Croke Park play host to the biggest Eid event at the venue to date.

The GAA and Croke Park along with The Irish Muslim Council will host the Muslim celebration of Eid Al Adha on the morning of Saturday, July 9, 2022.

This will be followed by a busy day of sporting action as the GAA All-Ireland Senior Football Championship semi finals take place.

Here is everything you need to know about Eid at Croke Park this Saturday.

When does Eid at Croke Park start?

Eid prayers will begin at 08:30 sharp. The gates will be open for entry from 07:45. Late arrivals will not be permitted enter the stadium.

What is included in my Eid at Croke Park ticket?

There are two types of tickets for this year's Eid event at Croke Park.

Prayer Tickets are for attendees who wish to pray the Eid prayers and will be seated in the prayer rows on the pitch.

Meanwhile, Guest Tickets are for attendees who do not wish to pray but want to observe the speeches and performances.

What should I bring to Eid at Croke Park?

Those with prayer tickets to Eid at Croke Park must bring their own prayer mats to avoid damage to the pitch.

How to get to Croke Park for Eid

Croke Park is located in Ballybough and is easily accessible by train, bus and walking from the city centre.

Croke Park is a 21 minute walk from O'Connell Street via Summerhill. Dublin Bus route 123 also takes you this way to Croke Park to enter the stadium via Foster Terrace.

Leaving you slightly further away at North Strand are bus routes 6, 14, 15, 27, 27A, 27B, 42, 43, 53, 130, H1, H2 and H3.

If you're travelling to Drumcondra, you can get routes 1, 7, 11, 13 and 44. There is also Drumcondra train station which you can reach via Heuston Station and Connolly Station. From there, it is a short walk up the Clonliffe Road to Croke Park.

Both guest ticket and prayer ticket holders will enter Croke Park at St Joseph's Avenue.

Parking at Croke Park

Parking at Croke Park will be extremely limited on the day of Eid celebrations.

Any guests or worshippers needing to request should contact organisers through muslimcouncil.ie after booking their tickets.
