Egyptian leaders have reaffirmed to the Palestinian Authority their commitment and efforts to resolving the conflict in Gaza. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi assured Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas of Egypt's dedication to stopping the aggression against the Palestinian people, providing humanitarian aid, and preventing displacement.
During a joint phone conversation, the two leaders emphasized the importance of expediting the implementation of a ceasefire and increasing the delivery of humanitarian and medical assistance. They also discussed strategies to avoid further military escalation and the displacement of civilians in Gaza and the West Bank.
President Abbas expressed gratitude to President Al-Sisi for his assistance in rallying international support to end hostilities and acknowledge the Palestinian state. The ongoing negotiations in Cairo between Israel and Hamas, mediated by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar, aim to achieve a prisoner exchange agreement and a temporary halt to the conflict.
