Egypt international Ahmed Refaat, aged 31, has tragically passed away, as confirmed by his club Modern Sport. The footballer suffered a heart attack in March during an Egyptian Premier League match. Refaat collapsed in the 88th minute of Modern Future's game against Al-Ittihad Alexandria and was subsequently placed in an intensive care unit. Despite being fitted with a pacemaker, his health continued to deteriorate.
After a month-long battle, Refaat was discharged from the hospital but unfortunately faced a severe setback leading to his untimely death. Modern Future FC released a statement announcing the loss of their player, expressing the challenges he endured since the health crisis on March 11, 2024.
Refaat, a prominent striker who represented both his club and the Egyptian national team, had a brief but impactful career. He made seven appearances for the national team and scored two goals, leaving a mark on the football community.
Mohamed Salah, the captain of the Egyptian national team and a star player for Liverpool, paid tribute to his fallen teammate. Salah extended his condolences to Refaat's family and loved ones, offering prayers and blessings during this difficult time.
