Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized to Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Mostafa the importance of Palestinians not leaving Gaza while it is being rebuilt. This meeting took place following US President Donald Trump's controversial announcement of plans to 'take over' Gaza, which sparked criticism from Palestinian politicians and Arab states.
The focus of the meeting was on addressing the humanitarian situation in Gaza through early recovery projects, rubble removal, and accelerated delivery of humanitarian aid. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry highlighted the Palestinians' strong attachment to their land and their refusal to leave Gaza, underscoring the need to support them in staying put.

Trump's remarks about the United States potentially 'owning' Gaza and his suggestion of Jordan and Egypt taking in displaced Palestinians were met with disapproval by Arab nations. The Arab states have consistently advocated for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and have rejected any forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
