Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi kicked off on Monday a tour of the region, starting in Oman.

He held talks with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq in Muscat.

Discussions focused on bolstering bilateral relations between their countries.

Oman’s state news agency ONA said they tackled the “strong fraternal ties” that bind their countries and exchanged views over several issues of common interest in wake of Arab and international developments.

The Egyptian presidency spokesman quoted Sisi as saying that Egypt is “proud of the strength of the strategic relations between their countries.”

He hoped they can be strengthened further on all levels.

Sisi’s next stop will take him to Bahrain where he will meet with King Hamad bin Isa.

On Monday, he dispatched a message to Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah. It tackled efforts to bolster bilateral relations, reported Kuwait’s state news agency (KUNA).

Sisi last week welcomed Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and later Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Cairo.

On June 18, he received Bahrain’s King Hamad and Jordan’s King Abdullah II.
