Egypt has decided to postpone an emergency Arab summit aimed at countering U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal regarding the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip. The summit, originally scheduled for February 27, has been rescheduled to take place in Cairo on March 4 to allow for additional logistical and objective preparations, as stated by Egypt's Foreign Ministry.

Trump's proposal, which involves the removal of the Palestinian population from Gaza and the subsequent takeover of the territory, has sparked widespread concern and opposition among Palestinians and Arab nations. While Israel has expressed support for the proposal, various human rights groups have raised concerns about potential forced displacement that could violate international law.

In a related development, Hamas has announced its intention to release six Israeli hostages on Saturday, marking the final phase of the release process under the initial ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The ceasefire negotiations are expected to progress to a more challenging phase, where Hamas would release additional hostages in exchange for a lasting ceasefire and an Israeli withdrawal.

Abbas dismisses official over 'martyrs' fund termination.

Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has dismissed an official who criticized his decision to terminate the 'martyrs' fund,' which provided stipends to the families of prisoners, including those involved in attacks against Israelis. The move to end the fund followed pressure from the United States and Israel, who viewed the payments as incentives for violence.

Additionally, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) reported that Israeli forces conducted raids on four of its schools in East Jerusalem, ordering their closure. Israel's actions were condemned by UNRWA officials, who described the raids as a violation of United Nations privileges and a denial of the right to education for children and trainees.

In response to the escalating tensions, Egypt's decision to postpone the Arab summit reflects the gravity of the situation and the need for thorough preparations to address the implications of Trump's proposal on the Gaza Strip and its population.
