Eerie images show inside a polygamist group's compound which was abandoned after its leader was jailed and the property seized.
The compound was accidentally stumbled upon by photographer, filmmaker, and so-called 'Urbex' explorer, Dave of Freaktography.
He claims the leader of the polygamist group - polygamy being the practice of marrying multiple spouses - acquired the land from a local farmer who wished to move south to avoid the harsh Canadian winters.
The group had rapidly grown and received huge financial support from the membership.
The mansion, now abandoned was built with this support, in the hope their expansion to be exponential.
The leader of the group was eventually arrested under numerous charges and sentenced to prison time.
After this, the group was disbanded and the property was seized by the local authorities.
It is reported that even today the leader of the group is still in jail.
The mansion contains a padded bar area, a family kitchen, a fireplace and a deteriorating fireplace.
However, construction of the property was halted upon the leaders arrest, causing the mansion to sit unfinished and to fall even further into disarray.
These photos were captured by urban exploration photographer and filmmaker Dave in Ontario, Canada.
Dave said: “This location was new to us and we had no idea what the story might be, it was set down a bit of an embankment on a large piece of rural property with beautiful sweeping views of the peninsula and rolling hills and its own very large pond.
“We entered into the basement to be greeted by colourful 60’s and 70’s wallpaper and a unique Mid Century Modern staircase.
“A large hole in the roof provided a steady stream of water directly onto the staircase and given the temperatures that day, all of that water had frozen making for a very slippery walk upstairs.
“It was getting late in the day and the sun was setting soon, giving us a fantastic light show of golden hues through the tattered curtains.
“We took turns shooting the various rooms, taking in the advanced decay and looking for items of interest, such as a record player that was frozen to the floor, a stone MCM fireplace and the unique exterior with a number of newly added rooms and a missing roof.
“We all wrapped up happy and satisfied with another good explore on the books, however, none of us actually knew any details of the reason for abandonment or the nature of this land.”
Through one of his followers, Dave was told about the history of the mansion after his exploration.
He added: “The Polygamist group was new to the area and had acquired the land.
“Eventually the leader of the group was brought up on numerous charges and was sentenced to a lengthy prison term.”
The Mirror reported yesterday abut images from the same photographer which showed the inside of a haunted house left abandoned deep in the woods full of creepy dolls and forgotten dentures.
Two damaged dolls are seen standing on top of a fireplace inside the abandoned home of an old woman.
One of the dolls has sustained significant damage to its face over the years adding to its creepiness.
Old pictures, cassette tapes, records, elephant figurines and even a pair of dentures were also discovered in a spooky location also in Ontario.
“This spooky house is located deep in the woods, and it’s perfect for those who love exploring dark places and creepy relics,” he said.
