Edwina Currie hits out at Ranvir Singh over Boris Johnson fine debacle

Edwina Currie hit out at Ranvir Singh on Good Morning Britain as she told her 'not to put words in her mouth' over the Boris Johnson fine debacle.

Edwina, 75 was asked by Ranvir whether Prime Minister Boris should resign after police issued him, his wife Carrie, and the Chancellor Rishi Sunak with 'Partygate' fines for breaking lockdown laws in 2020.

Edwina told Ranvir: "I don't care, I really don't care. What matters to me and what matters for millions of people in this country are the results we get from our politicians. The results we get from Boris are pretty good.

Edwina Currie accused Ranvir of putting words in her mouth on GMB (ITV)

"I want to hold him to account for all sorts of things, we'll get to a general election in 2024."

Boris has faced demands to recall Parliament for a vote of no confidence weeks before the May 5 local elections.

Ranvir and co-host Richard Madeley couldn't believe how blunt Edwina was in her response.

Ranvir said near the end of their interview: "You know, you say you don't mind if he's lied it doesn't matter to you..." but Edwina corrected her: "I didn't say that!"

Ranvir retorted: "You've said you don't care..."

And Edwina protested: "No no, don't put words in my mouth... Ranvir, shush I did not say that!

"I said there are more important things to get on with, I said that you can't change the past, you can't rewind the tape. He's a human being and so are the people around him."

Ranvir then said "How do you expect members of the public to follow any new laws that are ever brought in if we don't care that the Prime Minister was able to break the law?

Edwina insisted: "I understand the question and my answer is because the public understand what the rules were for,"

"The public obeyed the rules by and large and were very sensible and almost certainly they saved lives. What I'm saying is: It's done, it's dusted."
