Arsenal technical director Edu may be able to sign Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak for a cut-price in the January transfer window.
The Gunners are keen to sign a long-term replacement for exiled captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and out-of-contract forwards Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette this month.
Mikel Arteta has made Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic his chief target but as previously reported by football.london the Serbian international would prefer to stay in Serie A and he has told close friends that he would favour a move to Juventus or Inter Milan, with the former now reportedly actively pursuing a move for the 21-year-old.
Arsenal are now looking at alternatives to Vlahovic, with the aforementioned Isak, as well as Lille star Jonathan David both targets to spearhead Arteta's attack in the coming years.
And some eagle-eyed supporters on Reddit pointed out that Nacho Monreal's sale to Sociedad back in 2019 could help the Gunners in their pursuit of Isak.
When Monreal departed the Emirates Stadium some reports from Spain claimed that the north Londoners agreed to allow the veteran left-back to leave for a cut-price on the proviso that they would have a 'preferred option' for several star players at the Reale Arena.
If these reports are to be believed, perhaps it may allow Edu to negotiate a lower price for the Swedish international, who has a €90million (£75.4million) release clause on his contract.
Speaking back in November, the youngster said: "My clause? We, the players, don't take too much care of that, it's more on the side of the clubs. We play and the clubs negotiate with each other."
