Edu has been told how Arsenal must solve their latest transfer blow following difficulties with Dusan Vlahovic's agent amid talks over a potential move.
The Gunners have drawn a line in the sand, demanding that the Fiorentina striker decides whether or not he wants to join as the January transfer deadline day fast approaches, according to La Republica.
Talks have been difficult to undertake - for both Arsenal and La Viola - following reports that a deal could hinge on Vlahovic's agent raking in £15 million in fees, according to The Times.
So, Edu keen to find a solution, Bailey Keogh spoke to football.london's Arsenal correspondent Kaya Kaynak live on The Arsenal Way 'Pressbox show' to delve into the challenges that Edu could face if he does dig deeper into his pocket.
Keogh kickstarted proceedings by probing as to whether the north Londoners should copy Chelsea's sneaky negotiation trick that fended off interest from Europe's elite in a bid to sign Eden Hazard.
He said: "There are reports that the sticking point is to do with the agent fee so, lets say we do sell [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, would you be willing to pay a high agent fee, overspend on an agent to bring Vlahovic?
"I know teams have done it in the past and succeeded, look at Chelsea and Hazard. That's how Chelsea got Hazard, they paid an extortionate amount to the agent to bring him to Chelsea."
Kaynak outlined his hesitancy with Arsenal diving into another large financial risk, referencing the turbulance that followed Aubameyang's and Mesut Ozil's arrivals.
"It's really trick isn't it because every time Arsenal commit to one of those decisions it seems to blow up in their faces," he said.
"You look at the big money contracts they've given to Aubameyang and Ozil, they seem to have they've really not gone as planned that would seem to suggest that it's probably not the right right course of action to take.
"If Arsenal don't feel they can match his wage demands then they're going to have to look elsewhere. Having said that, if Arsenal are very serious about getting back to the top table, challenging for the Champions League and challenging for the Premier League then you can't do it without a world-class striker."
Kaynak concluded by confirming Arsenal's stance on Vlahovic's agent fees before explaining why Edu should copy Chelsea's Hazard trick to secure the Serbian.
"Vlahovic has the potential to be world-class. If you're looking at under-23 centre-forwards across Europe it's Haaland and then probably him so there's not that many options out there in terms of players who tick all those boxes that Arteta wants.
"I think Arsenal are willing to pay for him and I think they're happy to try and match those demands."
