Arsenal have managed to sign four players before the start of the season, with a fifth expected to be announced very soon, in a bold push to cement the club’s hopes of Champions League qualification for next season. However, there is certainly more work to be done and it appears the club know it too.
Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke plus his son and club director Josh Kroenke were in attendance for the club’s pre-season-friendly win over Orlando City. The Gunners technical director Edu has met with the pair for the match too having made the trip from London this week.
The aforementioned fifth signing made by the Brazilian is Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Ukrainian flew across the United States from his now former side’s preseason training camp to meet his new teammates.

However, Arsenal are far from done and perhaps the meeting between Edu, Stan and Josh can bear fruit regarding some late window investment. There is a feeling though that after five players have moved into the squad and none sold from last season’s squad, sales are needed.
Arsenal will be aware that the 25-man squad will be maxed out. On the club website, there are currently 32 listed senior players.
Of the 32, there are ten that could move on either permanently or on loan. Those that could be sold include Bernd Leno, Alex Runarsson, Hector Bellerin, Pablo Mari, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Lucas Torreira, Reiss Nelson and Nicolas Pepe. Whilst Folarin Balogun and Nuno Tavares might depart on loan.
Edu has a huge job trying to move on such a large number of players and bring in good sale prices to help reinvest into the side for next season. Should all ten move on, it would open up three spaces with one to be filled by Zinchenko.
With needs in central midfield and an attacking player mentioned with the likes of Youri Tielemans and Lucas Paqueta linked could these two be the players to fill those spots? Whilst the clock to the season ticks down, it seems more likely Arsenal’s business will extend beyond the new campaign’s kick-off.
