Arsenal's January transfer window has been an eventful one, to say the least.
The north Londoners missed out on primary target Mykhailo Mudryk, who eventually joined Premier League rivals instead in a deal worth in the region of £88 million, including potential add-ons. However, technical director Edu moved swiftly, wrapping up deals for Belgian winger Leonardo Trossard and Polish defender Jakub Kiwior over the last few days.
Now, according to Spanish outlet Cadena SER, via Sport Witness, the Gunners are keen on signing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who has also attracted interest from Barcelona in recent times. It is claimed that the player is unwilling to leave Sociedad this month, making a summer move more likely.

Zubimendi is also said to favour a move to the Premier League over signing for La Liga side Barcelona, a major boost to Arsenal, who were beaten to the signing of Brazilian winger Raphinha by the Catalan giants last summer. Former Liverpool central midfielder Xabi Alonso, who coached Zubimendi during his formative years has made it no secret of his admiration for the player.
“Martin’s a player all coaches would want", Alonso previously said when asked about the Spanish international's ability. "He’s generous, he always thinks more about his teammates than himself.
"He has that ability to generate play, to make those around him better, always offering solutions; to improve the move. He understands what the next step is before the ball gets to him. He has the ability to organise, the axis. I loved working with him.”
