Edu dealt major transfer blow as Arsenal striker 'target' signs new contract

Reported Arsenal transfer target Patrik Schick has signed a new contract with parent club Bayer Leverkusen.

The north London outfit are in the market for a clinical centre-forward after allowing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Barcelona in January whilst Alexandre Lacazette is also approaching the final few weeks of his contract with the club. football.london understands that Gabriel Jesus and Tammy Abraham are two profiles the club are interested in and technical director Edu has held talks with the former's representatives in recent months.

However, one striker they won't be signing is Czech international Schick, who has now penned a new deal with Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen. 90min reported that the Gunners had watched the former AS Roma frontman last year but a move now seems extremely unlikely given his commitment to the German side.

Still, rumours continue to circulate on a potential swoop for the aforementioned Jesus, who has even admitted that his future with Manchester City remains uncertain. Speaking after the Citizens won the Premier League last Sunday, the Brazilian international told ESPN Brazil: "About my future, it’s still uncertain

"I have a contract with City and I have already expressed my desire to the City people and to my agent. I have in my head very clear what I want. Today, I want to celebrate a lot with City.

"It’s obvious that I’m very happy here. Tomorrow, if everything goes well for me, my wife and our family, Helena [his daughter] will come to the world.

"So, I have to take advantage of this moment. Then, think about the team, smile at the team again.

"And, on vacation, I decide about my future."
