Edu has not yet given an update on the state of Arsenal’s transfer progress since the signing of Fabio Vieira. The technical director sat down with the club and said he was excited for the coming weeks.
“Yes, I’m quite excited,” he said. “I think we have some good conversations and positive conversations, to be fair. I hope we can give to the [Arsenal] fans some good news.”
Positive news did follow in the form of Gabriel Jesus who scored within 90 seconds of making his debut in Nuremberg. However, nothing more has been said about what fans can expect on possible signings until now.

AFTV managed to speak with Edu ahead of the friendly and posted to their YouTube channel the exchange. In it, Lee Judges cheekily asked Edu, “Some signings coming, please?”
Edu replied with a grin on his face, “Working on it, yes, we’re working on it.” With deals being regularly reported this coy response will do little to tie over supporters but it is good to know that it hints more is to come.
The two players at the top of the roster right now are Lisandro Martinez and Youri Tielemans. The pair have been clear targets for the club throughout the window so far.
Manchester United look like the favourites to land the Argentine however but Tielemans is very keen on a switch to Arsenal despite United also monitoring the situation. If Edu is indeed working hard to get the deals done, next week, with the US tour beginning, could be a pivotal period of the window.
Should one or neither of the two players arrive, the clock is ticking down for the club to secure alternatives. The early business the club was able to do has opened a sizeable window for their contingency plans, but after so much talk of preparation, ending the window poorly will not be well received.
