Edson Alavarez is the latest Ajax player to be linked with a reunion with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.
The 52-year-old is currently pursuing Jurrien Timber and Antony while former Amsterdam player Frenkie de Jong is his number one target this summer. Ex-Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen is also on his wish list.
United are exploring alternative options if a deal for De Jong cannot be secured. The Athletic claim that Alvarez could also be Ten Hag’s radar with the Dutchman an admirer of the holding midfielder.

The 24-year-old Mexican — who is expected to go to this winter’s World Cup — scored in all three of Ajax’s final Eredivisie games of the season as he lifted the title alongside Ten Hag. But it is his defensive duties that are most revered.
Alvarez was being tracked by the likes of Valencia in previous transfer windows but made it clear last year that he was staying at Ajax. He said this was because he felt wanted by Ten Hag.
Speaking to Ajax TV in August, he said: “The coach wants me to stay. That’s important to me.”
Ten Hag was reported to have had a good relationship with his players at Ajax, which has allowed him to pursue members of his former squad as United targets, albeit the Mirror reports that the Dutch giants will not allow a mass exodus.
