Residents on Turnhouse Road were confused after the recently installed double yellow lines were removed - just weeks after they were painted.
On August 9, residents of the road were shocked to find their street painted and found themselves unable to park their cars outside their homes. But by the end of last week, locals noticed the lines being burned off.
The lines were reportedly not approved by the City of Edinburgh Council and was ordered to be removed after Edinburgh Live covered the story.

Stephen Gaved, a local resident, spotted the lines being burned off at the end of last week. He told Edinburgh Live: “I’m a landscaper and couldn’t help noticing a contractor burning off the yellow lines at the beginning of Turnhouse Road.
“I stopped to chat with the contractor, and they explained that the main contractor hadn’t got permission from The City of Edinburgh Council to put lines down in the first place. They said that the yellow lines had to be removed and burnt off then they would reinstate with white lines.
“Couldn’t believe the waste of resources involved, again wasting taxpayers money and even worse the pollution that’s involved in removing them. I thought it strange after the residents' complaints to see them removed.
“The contractor also explained that the new road surface will most likely be permanently damaged due to the premature removal of lines. Another squad was removing more lines on the upper road and the smoke and stench was incredible.”
Before the yellow lines were removed, Edinburgh City Council transport and environment convener Scott Arthur, said: “A Traffic Regulation Order is required for this kind of change, and as part of the order’s promotion residents are able to view and comment on plans.
“As the order for Turnhouse Road has not yet been promoted we will be liaising with developers about the changes that have been made, and steps to remedy the situation.”
I & H Brown, the contractors behind the incident, have been approached for comment.
