Edinburgh woman taken to hospital after two-car smash on busy city centre road

An Edinburgh woman has been taken to the Royal Infirmary following a two-car smash involving a taxi on Regent Road.

The incident took place just after 13.00 on Saturday November 5, as police raced to the scene.

Images show the dark blue vehicle left at in the middle of the road and a large taxi which appears to have collided with the front right hand side of the car.

Police attended the collision and managed traffic. The female driver was later taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary as a precaution.

Investigations to establish the full circumstances of the crash are now ongoing.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 1.20pm on Saturday 5 November 2022, police received a report of a two-vehicle road crash on Regent Road, Edinburgh."

Adding: "Emergency services attended and one woman was taken to hospital as a precaution. Enquiries are ongoing."
