Edinburgh woman 'captures the Queen's spirit' leaving Palace of Holyroodhouse

An Edinburgh woman claims she has captured the Queen’s spirit leaving the Palace of Holyroodhouse on Monday evening (September 12).

Elizabeth Dunsmuire, 26, who has lived in the capital all her life, says that she was travelling to pay her respects to the former monarch and to show support for King Charles.

But she said that she did not expect to capture what she did when she took a number of photographs outside of the royal residence.

Elizabeth took a walk down the Royal Mile and says that she thinks the ‘dots’ in her picture could be the Queen’s spirit leaving the Palace.

She claims that there were no lights in the area that could have caused the large orb-like dot that can be seen in the images shared with Edinburgh Live.

However, it may have been a light reflection instead of a spirit that she captured with her camera.

On this, she said: “I took some pictures outside the Palace of Holyroodhouse the night the Queen was lying in rest at St Giles and I think I may have captured her spirit. There were no lights or anything to make these dots which appear in five different photos.

“I took a wee walk down the Mile at night as I wanted to get some pictures and I can safely say I didn’t expect to get the pics I did.

“Everyone was so kind and so polite. They would have made the Queen really proud.

“One of the main reasons I actually went to pay my respect is because my aunt passed away a few months ago and I felt like it would have made my auntie Sheila extremely happy.

“I hope the queen and prince philip have found each other and are looking down on their family proud. Also I went to pay respect to King Charles as so much has happened to himself from losing his dear mother and having to become King but he’s done amazing.”

The Queen was taken to Holyroodhouse on Sunday 11 and stayed overnight before being taken in a procession to St Giles Cathedral on the Royal Mile.

On Tuesday 13 the RAF then flew her down to London where she was taken to Buckingham Palace before being transported to Westminster Hall on Wednesday ahead of her funeral at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19.
