Hero lifeboat crews raced to a woman and two children who got into difficulty while paddleboarding at a popular Edinburgh beach.
RNLI Kinghorn in Fife were called out twice on Friday, June 23, both emergencies being reported in Edinburgh. Shortly after 6pm, crews were paged to Portobello Beach after a paddleboard was seen drifting offshore.
The craft had a woman and two children onboard and thankfully, a fellow paddleboarder went out and rescued the three back to shore. Earlier that day, the lifeboat was paged to Wardie Bay, off the Granton Harbour.

A report of a small inflatable boat in difficulty came in and when crews arrived, it was confirmed that the vessel, with two people onboard, had managed to restart its engine and return to the shore.
South Queensferry Coastguard arrived and spoke to the occupants of the boat. The two calls were the 52nd and 53rd RNLI Kinghorn had received so far this year, highlighting their importance in keeping people on the water safe.
One resident, close to the coast at Kinghorn, sent images of the lifeboat leaving the harbour on Friday night. They added: "The lifeboat was unloaded and took off in the direction of Edinburgh. I hope everyone involved make it to shore safely."
RNLI Kinghorn added: "If you are taking to the water, please make sure you are adequately prepared with buoyancy equipment and a means of calling for help. Full advice specific to your chosen activity is available on the RNLI website."
