Edinburgh Wetherspoons slashing price of pints, spirits, coffee and other drinks

With the current cost of living crisis and January being one of the toughest months of the year, many people are looking for any excuses they can find to save a penny or two.

To help, pub chain JD Wetherspoon is dropping prices across most of its Edinburgh pubs until January 17, with a whole host of alcoholic drinks, non-alcoholic drinks, soft drinks and tea and coffee all being reduced in price.

Pints of Bud Light, Guinness and Stowford Press Dark Berry Cider are amongst the items to be slashed, while pints of specified real ales will be on offer for £1.10. The cost of spirits will also be reduced, including whisky, gin, rum and vodka.

For those taking on Dry January, the low and alcohol-free drinks included in the reduction are; Beck's Blue, Adnams Ghost Ship, BrewDog Punk AF, Heineken 0.0, Kopparberg and Erdinger.

Coffee and soft drinks will also be reduced to 99p.

The list of Edinburgh's seven Wetherspoon's bars includes: The Foot of the Walk, The Playfair, The White Lady, The Alexander Graham Bell, The Booking Office, The Caley Picture House, and The Standing Order.

The eighth, The Sir Walter Scott, is not included in the sale.

Tim Martin, Wetherspoon founder and chairman, said: "Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it is the perfect time to have a sale in the pub too.

"The range of drinks and food on sale in the pub is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes. This year we have included our biggest selection of low and non-alcoholic drinks."
