Edinburgh weather: When will heatwave end as temperatures to hit 24C

The good weather in Edinburgh is set to continue for at least a little while longer, with temperatures expected to reach 24 degrees Celsius on Monday.

According to the Met Office, Monday will be "a dry day with bright spells but also a lot of high cloud at times". It adds that Edinburgh will be "feeling very warm" with some of "the highest temperatures" across the region.

While it will be a predominantly cloudy day in the capital, there will be bursts of sunshine throughout the day. Most of this will be in the morning and afternoon, but there will also be sunny spells at around 4pm.

Temperatures will start off warm, hitting around 17C by 10am, and will only continue to rise throughout the day. According to the Met Office, they are set to peak at 23C at 1pm, and will remain here for much of the afternoon.

By 7pm, things will gradually start to cool off, but it will still be 20C by midnight. High temperatures will continue into Tuesday morning, falling just 1C to 19C by 3am.

Tuesday will start off cloudier than Monday, with no sunny spells expected. It will also be slightly cooler, with temperatures remaining just below 20C for much of the morning and afternoon.

At 3pm, skies will be begin to clear up, and by 4pm it will be clear and sunny — and will remain so for the remainder of the day and evening. Temperatures will also rise slightly around this time, peaking at 20C.

Wednesday looks to be slightly cooler, especially in the morning — with temperatures falling to 12C — and light rain showers are forecast at around 1pm, but by the afternoon things will begin to warm up again to a peak of 18C.

The rest of the week will be mostly cloudy, with temperatures rising day-on-day until Sunday, when peaks of 23C are expected in the city.

Looking at a longer-range forecast on Accuweather, the warm temperatures are predicted to stick around for most of the rest of the month. Between July 11 and July 25, only one day is currently expected to fall below 20C.

It isn't until early August that temperatures are set to remain above 20C until at least the start of next month. Be prepared for a lot of sunny days yet.
