Edinburgh weather: Scorching capital set to be hotter than Johannesburg

Temperatures are set to soar in Edinburgh tomorrow, potentially reaching 28 degrees and making the capital hotter than Johannesburg.

According to the Met Office, Edinburgh locals are set to enjoy another cloudless, sunny day where the heat will hopefully be cooled slightly by breezes from the sea. With the maximum temperature predicted by the Met Office at 28 degrees, it will be hotter than parts of South Africa where, in Johannesburg, where 23C is forecast.

Temperatures will rise throughout the day, reaching 16 degrees before 6am. Temperatures will continue to climb throughout the day before an expected 26 degrees by 2pm.

The temperature will remain there until the early evening, where it will finally begin to drop by around 6pm. However, even by 10pm, it will only drop down to 20 degrees.

The warm weather is set to remain for the rest of the week, with both Friday and Saturday getting over 20 degrees. The weather is forecast to start breaking by Sunday, with isolated showers possible and cloud going into the start of next week.

Thankfully for hay fever sufferers, the Met Office predict that there will be low pollen for the rest of the week, with only small amounts of weed pollen around. However, they warn of a “high” UV rating until Sunday, August 14, so if you’re going out to enjoy the sun, make sure to wear adequate sun protection.

The Met Office said: “Another cloudless day is expected with unbroken sunshine across the region. Very warm to hot for most but some cooling onshore breezes. Maximum temperature 28 °C.

The Met office said that the outlook for Friday will be: “Very warm or hot with plenty of sunshine. However, North Sea coasts may be cloudier on Friday, and the east may start cloudy on Saturday. Isolated showers possible on Sunday.
