Recently, the weather in Edinburgh has brought us all four seasons in the same day, with a mixture of heavy downpours and sunny spells dominating the last week.
With the nights closing in and the temperature dropping, Autumn is in full swing and many have already bit the bullet and turned their heating on. Unfortunately, it looks like a mix of rain, wind and sun is set to continue for the coming week.
One of the most frustrating aspects of the unpredictable Autumn weather is not knowing what to wear if you're heading out. An umbrella and sun glasses seems your best bet at the moment.

According to the Met Office, heavy showers with some sunny spells later in the day is the forecast for Sunday, with highs of around 13C. They say: "Remaining heavy showers soon dying out then bright with good sunny spells developing. Increasing cloud later in afternoon brings heavy evening rain to western parts. Occasionally strong westerly winds easing. Maximum temperature 13 °C."
The outlook for midweek is much of the same, although there is some good news as the rain is set to be replaced with more permanent dry and sunny spells from Tuesday onwards.
The Met Office predicts "Heavy rain clears through the early hours of Monday with sunny spells and heavy blustery showers following. More settled and largely dry through Tuesday and Wednesday with sunny spells."
In recent nights, temperatures have plummeted to just 5C. The drop is set to continue into next week with highs reaching 13C and lows around 7C, meaning it won't be long until you're setting your alarm early to get up and defrost the car.
Looking further towards the end of the week, the forecast looks dry but cloudy on both Thursday and Friday with highs of 14C and lows of 9C.
