Edinburgh has been issued a flood alert that will remain in place 'until further notice'.
Heavy rain is set to batter the capital on Thursday September 8 and Friday September 9, following the thunderstorms that were seen earlier this week.
The flood alert was issued by Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) on Wednesday at 12.10pm. They warned: "Isolated thundery showers on Wednesday afternoon, followed by a period of heavy rain and thundery showers during the early hours of Thursday could cause flooding impacts from surface water and flooding from small rivers or watercourses.

"Particularly at risk are urban areas and the transport network and there may be difficult driving conditions. Due to the localised nature of the showers, impacts may be isolated, with not all locations being affected"
With this, the Met Office has issued an update as to when Edinburgh residents can expect the downpours. While temperatures will rise to 17C, showers are expected throughout the day starting from 12pm.
Light rain will be on and off until 6pm where the lighter showers will turn heavier by 7pm and the heavy downpours will continue through the night.
The Met Office adds: "Rather cloudy towards the east coast with occasional showers, otherwise a bright start with sunny spells. Showers develop more widely this morning, these becoming occasionally heavy. The showers merging into a longer spell of rain in east later in afternoon."
Moving onto Thursday, Edinburgh locals will wake up to heavy rain battering their windows from 7am and this is forecasted to continue right through until 11am. Then, the showers will turn lighter but rainfall will continue through the day.
By 7pm, Met Office predicts that the rain will finally stop as the skies turn more cloudy while temperatures sit at 14C, though the weather forecasters add it will feel more like 12C.
