Edinburgh weather: City set for a scorcher for Queen's 70th jubilee celebrations

Edinburgh is set to enjoy sunny weather and warm temperatures for the Queen’s Jubilee weekend as the city gets ready to celebrate.

The city is set to enjoy some sunny weather for the jubilee, with BBC weather reporting sunny intervals and a gentle breeze, despite some cloud cover.

It’s also set to be rather warm for the weekend, with highs of 16 degrees to complement the sunny weather.

The lowest the weekend is set to get is currently marked at eight degrees. However, that is largely in the early morning, with the weather quickly jumping up to 14 degrees by midday.

This comes as the city prepares a variety of celebrations for the queen’s 70th Jubilee.

Attendees will be thankful for the good weather as the main events are all to be hosted outside. In Princes Street Gardens, there are plans to project the processions taking place in London on the Saturday.

This is being organised by the UK’s Department for Digital Culture, Media and Sport and will see large screens placed in capital cities across the country. Including London, Cardiff and Edinburgh.

Furthermore, The Royal Yacht Club are expected to sail a fleet of boats from Granton Harbour along the Edinburgh shoreline and to Newhaven.

They are planning to adorn their boats with flags and decorations to create a colourful display along Edinburgh’s waters for people to enjoy.
