More wet and windy spells are set to hit Edinburgh next week as the bleak Autumn weather continues.
With a yellow weather warning put in place for the end of last week, extreme downpour and wind caused severe travel disruption within the capital and the Lothians. Trains were delayed due to damaged overhead wires, traffic mounted due to trees blown over on the roads, and commuters were faced with lengthy queues due to surface water on most main roads.
Although the Met Office isn't predicting an exact repeat next week, it seems like the rain will make another appearance following a mostly dry Sunday.

Ahead of Sunday, forecasters at the Met Office say we're due: "Largely dry with good bright and sunny spells, but always cloudier across western most districts where scattered showers develop. West to southwest winds occasionally fresh. Maximum temperature 16 °C."
Many households will now be putting their heating on after relief during the summer, although it won't be as much of a warm feeling this time around due to the increase in energy prices that came into effect on Saturday, October 1.
While temperatures aren't necessarily Winter-level yet, there is a certain chill in the air that has caused homeowners to close the windows and find their woolly jumpers and pyjamas. Lows of 8C are set for the end of the week, and highs of just 13C.
Looking past Sunday, the outlook for Monday to Wednesday is where the bad news comes. Edinburgh and the Lothians looks set for another miserable spell, although it will be mixed with periods of sunshine this time around.
The forecast predicts: "Fair start for Monday, but rain, strengthening winds spreading from west later. Mostly unsettled with periods of rain or showers on Tuesday and Wednesday."
