Edinburgh Wagamama 'sorry' after diner points out two 'embarrassing' problems

An Edinburgh restaurant has apologised after a customer spotted two 'embarrassing' mistakes while dining with them.

Wagamama on St Andrew Square had responded to the complaint after the individual had left them a furious TripAdvisor last week following their dinner out.

Speaking on the review site, the customer had exclaimed that they "wouldn't be back" after experiencing issues with the disabled toilet and one of their group's meal.

While out on a family trip in the capital, the message explained that one of their party was unable to get access to the toilet, while another was forced to wait an additional 20 minutes on their main meal.

Branding the popular eatery with two stars, the diner said: "Recent family trip to Edinburgh and we opted for Wagamama as their menu is clear for those with allergies.

"One of party needed to use the disabled toilet only to find it blocked by a large delivery of drinks. How embarrassing to have to ask for it to be moved - hardly a discrete visit to the toilet.

"Another of our party is gluten-free, and initially it was encouraging to see how seriously Wagamama takes this, as our waiter explained that only a manager could take a gluten-free order. However, we had to wait 20 minutes for the manager to arrive, after the rest of us had ordered.

"Then, the gluten-free food arrived a very long time after the rest of us had eaten! Again, how embarrassing for our guest. Overall, our guest with a disability and our guest with a common allergy were made to feel very awkward in this restaurant. Needless to say we won’t be back!"

Responding to the complaint, Wagamama were quick to apologise for their mistakes, and urged the customer to get in touch with them directly.

Hoping to rectify the issues, the chain said: "We're sorry to hear that the disabled toilets were blocked off and you had to wait for the manager so you could make a gluten-free order.

"Could you please head to www.wagamama.com/contact-us + fill out the form, one of our team will get back to you, thanks."
