You may have heard disgruntled locals in the capital having a go at Edinburgh University students more than once and a Tik Tok video may have just summed up why.
Edinburgh University 'yahs" are distinguishable by their New Town postcode, flared trousers, loud voices in public places and can often be found paying for pints of Tennent's with a credit card.
Now, that's not to say they aren't good people but many residents, understandably, can't help but get a bit hot under the collar when they see teenagers living it up in a city where they struggle to find affordable housing.
And, nothing has summed this up quite as spectacularly than a Tik Tok in which three Edinburgh University students give viewers a tour around their "Edinburgh student home".
While most skint students are accustomed to grotty, overpriced flats in the capital, these students cite chandeliers, discarded packets of hummus and a plate warmer as things that "just make sense".
In a tweet that has now gone viral sharing the video, an Edinburgh resident wrote: "No offence but this Tik Tok made me want to burn Edinburgh Uni to the ground."
She added: "I can't afford to live in the city I was born in whilst uni students can afford plate warmers."
In fairness to these women, at no point do they say that they attend the prestigious university but it seems that Twitter users have universally agreed that they do.

"Did they....did they refer to a terrace as "phat", asked one confused user. Yes, yes, they did.
"Garp yar", added another.
One former student said: "EdinburRAH! I knew so many peeps like that when I went there."
