Edinburgh trains stuck in depot as signalling fault plunges rush hour commute into chaos

Commuters are facing rush hour rail chaos this morning with trains from Edinburgh stuck at Haymarket Depot due to a signalling fault.

ScotRail are unable to get any trains out of the depot, causing services from the capital to be limited.

The train operator has said that staff from Network Rail are on site currently working on repairs.

The signalling fault is causing major disruption on the Edinburgh to Glasgow line, as well as services to Fife, Dunblane, and further north to Aberdeen and Inverness.

Services are still able to go in and out of Haymarket station but some services out of Edinburgh Waverly are affected.

Some commuters will be able to use their train tickets on local buses, with travellers able to get on Stagecoach services around Fife, including buses to Perth and Dundee.
