A diehard romantic is on the hunt for a rare Scott Monument model three years after proposing to his girlfriend at the iconic Edinburgh spot.
Neil and Katy were enjoying a staycation in Linlithgow back in 2019 when a trip into the capital offered the perfect wedding proposal opportunity.
Three years on, and Neil is desperately searching for a keepsake from the momentous day - only to find that miniatures of the capital landmark are hard to come by.
Neil said: "We had booked to do a horse trek around Loch Lomond during our stay, and I had initially intended to propose then, but while on a day out in Edinburgh and at the top of Scott Monument, it seemed the perfect moment."
Neil and Katy were planning to have their wedding in 2021, but their special day plans were, unfortunately, affected by the Covid pandemic, and the couple had to postpone. Neil said: "That was kind of annoying, as the weather and everything on our initial date turned out to be perfect, but it allowed us to do other things we had planned such as move house."
"It has become a little daunting as we were well prepared for the wedding prior to the second lockdown, and then because we postponed it, it went to the back of our minds. Now it's starting to feel like it's rushing towards us!
"It's all worked out, though, as our wedding date now coincides with our engagement date."
Now having the date confirmed for a perfect springtime wedding celebration in April, Neil hopes to find a Fraser Creations figurine depicting the special place that will always hold a spot in the couple's hearts.
He said: "We really wanted a memento of our time in Edinburgh and something to signify our engagement, so a model of Scott Monument seemed the obvious choice.
"Unfortunately, it seems Fraser Creations are the only company that has ever manufactured one, and they're no longer in business, so we've had no luck tracking one down."
Ian Fraser, together with his wife Marion, has once run a multi-million-pound business that was born from Ian's love for models. Based at Eastfield Studios in Penicuik, Fraser Creations was making beautiful and amazingly detailed figurines of Scottish landmarks and countryside cottages - and even had some Disney-themed statuettes. Back in 1992, Ian even appeared on American TV before an estimated 40 million viewers.
Unfortunately, the company has since gone out of business, with its creations being a rarity. Replying to Neil on Reddit, the platform's users were noting that the company has a few of the Scott Monument figurines produced, and the chances of finding one are extremely slim, with others offering to make one on a 3D printer.
