A number of Edinburgh Tesco shoppers were given a fright this week after coming out to find their cars surrounded in floodwater.
Much of Edinburgh was soaked on Tuesday afternoon (September 7), after thunderstorms hit across the capital, bringing intense weather conditions.
With the city experiencing heavy downpours in a short space of time, many places were subject to flash flooding, including the Tesco superstore at Corstorphine.

Caught on camera by TikTok user @bigfootdigger, the clip showed the huge car park outside the supermarket almost entirely submerged in water.
With many cars seeing the water coming up to their registration plates, many shoppers were forced to drive carefully as they navigated through the chaos.

As the rain continued to fall across the car park, concerns were made over how quickly the water was able to rise, with @bigfootdigger commenting:
"Just saying Tesco, when you think about resurfacing your car park next, maybe think about drainage, it might help in a storm like this. That’s only after a mere half hour of rain."
The clip came as other areas of Edinburgh were also impacted by the downpours, with the St James Quarter also experiencing flash flooding on the lower levels.
The storm also went viral on social media for a strange weather phenomenon, a Water Spout tornado, that was confirmed by the Met Office as it moved over countryside in Midlothian.
