Edinburgh teens hospitalised as driver seen 'staggering' away from horror crash

Two teen girls were hospitalised after a two car crash in Edinburgh over the weekend.

The driver, who is yet to be traced, was seen 'stumbling away' from the scene of the incident. Police raced to Sir Harry Lauder Road just before 1am on Sunday morning where a Fiat 500 had smashed into a VW Insignia.

The driver of the VW Insignia, who remained at the scene, told Edinburgh Live : "I was coming round Sir Harry Lauder Road, driving normally and all of a sudden someone smashed into me.

"Once I realised what had happened I got out the car, and saw the driver staggering around so I went to get my phone to film him. By the time I'd done that he had ran away.

"Then I realised there were two young girls in the car, and one of them was bleeding from the mouth. They were taken to hospital, and the officers did a great job of keeping the situation under control."

Inspector William Falconer said: “We were called around 12.45am on Sunday, 29 January, to a report of a two car crash on Sir Harry Lauder Road, Edinburgh, involving a VW Insignia and a Fiat 500.
