Emergency services were forced to close off a Leith street after parts of the stonework on a building began to rain down on a pavement from height.
The incident is understood to have taken place at around 09:00am on the morning of Saturday January 28 at Brunswick Street.
Images shared with Edinburgh Live show parts of the structure's roof crumbling away and a concerned passerby says that they noticed the “building wall falling apart.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) as well as Police Scotland are visible in the pictures and it appears as though officers had taped off the pavement to ensure that those passing by were protected from the “unsafe building.”
Alex Hunsley, an independent iOS developer from Edinburgh, spotted the ongoing incident on Brunswick Street at around 10:10am.
He shared on Twitter: “Nasty. Fire and police in attendance in Edinburgh near London road where a building wall is falling apart.
“Massive chunks of masonry very precariously leaning forwards, and some bits already fell.”
It is understood that no one has been injured by the crumbling brickwork but that the street remains closed to both vehicles and pedestrians.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9am on Saturday, 28 January, 2023 we were made aware of an unsafe building on Brunswick Street, Edinburgh.
"Officers are at the scene and the road remains closed to pedestrians and vehicles."
The SFRS have been contacted for comment.
