Edinburgh Street Assist joined by Love Island star on busy Saturday night shift

The Edinburgh Street Assist team were joined by a Love Island star during their busy Saturday night shift over the weekend.

Priya Gopaldas who was featured on season seven of the reality show and is also a fifth-year medical student, joined the busy team as they hit the streets to help anyone in need on November 12.

The reality star entered the villa on Day 42 and was dumped from the island on Day 50 she has now continued with her studies and will soon graduate as a medic.

Neil Logan, founder of Street Assist shared the exciting news on Twitter along with a picture of the team cheesing alongside the star.

Saturday nights are one of the busiest shifts for the team as punters across the city take to areas like George Street and Cowgate for nights out with their pals.

This one was no different as the team shared it was their busiest night to date. On Saturday the teams attended 42 jobs across the city centre.

The Street Assist team wrote: "It was brilliant to work with Priya over the shift and she got stuck in supporting us with our busiest night to date!"

Also adding: It’s always brilliant to have visitors come along and volunteer with our project and for them to see the impact of what we do."

Street Assist work to keep members of the public safe during the night-time economy hours of the weekends and their service often takes the pressure off of stretched emergency services like the police and ambulance services.

The service is run solely by volunteers many that are paramedic students who give up their free time every weekend to offer assistance to anyone who may need it across Edinburgh.

In the past they have saved lives with their quick and efficient service in providing life-saving medical attention.
