Edinburgh shoppers in frenzy as queues stretch back 'for miles' to get into watch shop

Edinburgh shoppers have been seen queuing 'for miles' as they waited to get their hands on a new watch collection.

Crowds of people stood in line along Princes Street and all the way round the corner on Saturday (March 26) with the hope of getting into Swatch as soon as possible.

With queues stretching round onto Frederick Street and as far back as Rose Street, the reaction was all over Swatch's new collaboration with fellow watchmaker, Omega.

The new 'MoonSwatch' range has been eagerly anticipated around the world, with similar crowds lining up in London to get their hands on the collection.

Themed around space, each piece in the collaboration is named after a planet, with their design and colour meant to reflect the theme.

Costing around £207 per watch, fans of the brands had ideal conditions to wait in, with Edinburgh reaching highs of around 17 degrees in the city centre.

Queues had begun well before the store opened its doors on Saturday morning, with the line only getting longer as the day went on.

One passer by told Edinburgh Live the line stretched 'for miles' around one of the city's busiest streets.

With Edinburgh being the only other UK shop to stock the collection, many waited for well over an hour just for the chance of getting one before they sellout.
