Edinburgh set to welcome alcohol free festival this weekend with yoga and comedy

A unique festival is heading to the capital this weekend, centred around well-being - and completely alcohol free.

Flare Festival is being held at Summerhall on Saturday 21, kicking off at 10am. The event will see talks, workshops, yoga, meditation, comedy and more.

The festival will also bring in local businesses, giving them a chance to show off their products. Visitors can enter, leave and re-enter throughout the day as many times as they like.

100 per cent of ticket sales being donated to Love Po charity. The organisation provides gifts and experiences to cancer patients and their families going through treatment.

Admission to the festival is priced at £25 per person which includes entry, access to all the talks, workshops, and performances, and an opportunity to sample the alcohol free alternatives provided - as well as free goodies throughout the day.

While organisers are encouraging visitors to take part in the day sober, Summerhall’s courtyard bar will be open if people would like to enjoy a drink. Speaking ahead of the event, a spokesperson for Flare said: “A festival? Been there, done that.

“Got the t-shirt from the merch stall and outgrown it. But this isn’t any festival.

“This is a festival with community in mind. Bringing inspiring local small businesses together, who have a common goal.

“While this isn’t an adult only festival, it is recommended that if you are a parent, you take this day out to do something for you and come kid-free. Summerhall is a dog friendly venue, so feel free to bring your furry friends into the main areas.”
