Edinburgh ScotRail passengers told to 'expect cancellations' after fault on line

Rail Passengers travelling between Edinburgh and Glasgow on Saturday have been warned of delays.

Scotrail have said a points failure at Newbridge Junction is affecting several routes, warning those travelling between Edinburgh and Haymarket to Glasgow, Helensburgh or Dunblane of the issue. The rail service have not said how long they expect the delays to last.

In a tweet, Scotrail said: "We have a points failure at Newbridge Junction which is affecting trains on multiple routes. Delays, cancellations and alterations can be expected between Edinburgh / Haymarket and Glasgow / Helensburgh / Dunblane."

This comes just days before strike action will see a 'skeleton service' in several areas of Scotland, including the Central Belt, Fife, and Borders. These are expected to last for five days, beginning on December 13.

Scotrail said: "Due to strike action by RMT members of Network Rail on Tuesday 13, Wednesday 14, Friday 16 and Saturday 17 we will only be able to run a skeleton service on a limited number of routes across the Central Belt, Fife and Borders for five days.

"These limited services will start at 7.30 and end at 18.30. Please plan ahead and ensure you know when your last train will run.
