Edinburgh school raided as police launch investigation and appeal for witnesses

An Edinburgh school had a break-in over the weekend with Police Scotland confirming that inquiries are ongoing.

Gaelic primary Bun-sgoil Taobh Na Pairce, located on Bonnington Road serves hundreds of schoolchildren who live in and around the Leith area and recently suffered a break-in on the property.

The incident was reported to the police on Monday, June 5, and anyone with any information is urged to contact police.

Edinburgh Council confirmed the break-in but assured the school sustained "no impact" from the weekend raid. The authority went on to detail that the incident occurred at the disused janitor's house.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a break-in at Bonnington Road on the morning of Monday, 5 June and enquires are ongoing into this incident.

"Anyone with information should contact 101 with reference 0629 of 5 June."

Edinburgh Council released a statement saying: "The City of Edinburgh Council confirmed there had been a break in at the school over the weekend on the building site of the disused janitor’s house but it had no impact on the school."
