A popular Edinburgh fish and chip shop has announced its shock closure, leaving locals devastated.
Despite having earned a series of rave reviews since opening around 18 months ago, Fish Haymarket served up their delicious seafood for the very last time on Saturday.
The surprise news has been met with sadness from their loyal customers, some of whom have described the Clifton Terrace eatery as 'the best chippy in Edinburgh', while it also had high praise for its variety of vegan options.

The owner cited the spiralling costs of electricity and gas at the main reason for their decision to close as well as his staff having opportunities to go to university.

Posting on Facebook after their final day of service they said: "That’s all she wrote folks.
"The last 18 months have been great, but we have decided to close. I wish you all the very best in the future."
In response, one customer posted: "Oh no, we are going miss your amazing vegan options!", while another added: "So sad you were always so busy. You’ll be missed."
Fish Haymarket scored high ratings from reviews left on the likes of Google, Facebook and TripAdvisor, with one person commenting: "Best fish and chips I've had for ages. Fish cooked from fresh. Staff very friendly.
"Dog friendly too and gave me a doggy portion each for my two dogs. Would definitely be back when in the area."
