Edinburgh Ryanair 'sorry' as flight diverted last minute to Glasgow

Passengers heading to Edinburgh from London Stansted had their flight diverted on Monday, after high winds meant they had to land in Glasgow.

Ryanair have now issued an apology, and confirmed alternative transport was organised to take passengers through to Edinburgh. Flight RK9827 was due to leave London Stansted at 8.50am, and after it was delayed by 15 minutes was forced to head west to land.

Weather conditions caused issues across Scotland on Monday, with an easyJet flight heading for Aberdeen landing in Edinburgh according to Aberdeen Live.

“This flight from London Stansted to Edinburgh (March 13) diverted to Glasgow due to high winds at Edinburgh Airport. To minimise disruption to passengers, Ryanair quickly arranged for alternative transport to Edinburgh.

We sincerely apologise to affected passengers for any inconvenience caused as a result of this weather-related diversion.”

Other flights that were scheduled to arrive at Edinburgh were cancelled yesterday, including BA1440 leaving from London Heathrow and KL1281 from Amsterdam Schiphol.

Just last week, the cold snap caused issues at Edinburgh Airport with flights delayed and some cancelled.
