Edinburgh roadworks van used for collisions smashed up in crash at busy junction

A BEAR Scotland Trunk Road Incident Support van was involved in a road traffic collision with another vehicle while travelling on a main road on the outskirts of Edinburgh on Sunday.

A picture posted online showed the TRISS van, which assists police at the scene of traffic collisions, with its front smashed up after colliding with a red vehicle in South Queensferry.

BEAR Scotland, who are in charge of maintaining and managing main roads throughout the country, often also deal with roadworks and closures for essential repairs while also assisting traffic management if there is a breakdown or crash.

Unfortunately, one of the TRUNK road vans found itself in a crash of its own on the busy road near in South Queensferry, although a spokesperson for the company confirmed that there were no serious injuries as a result of the incident.

They said: "While driving along the A904 Builyeon Road in Queensferry on Sunday afternoon, one of our vans was struck by a vehicle exiting a side road. Thankfully nobody was seriously injured."

Images from the scene show heavy damage to the front of the vehicle as it appears to have been clipped by another car coming out of a nearby junction.

Those involved are seen standing outside both vehicles on the road as cars build up behind them. Debris is also seen strewn across the road as a result of the hefty collision.
