Edinburgh road locked down after woman 'seriously injured' in bus crash

An Edinburgh woman has been taken to hospital, after being hit by a bus on Chambers Street.

The crash, which happened just before 11pm on Wednesday, saw the road closed off until around 2.40am on Thursday. Officers have confirmed the pedestrian sustained serious injuries.

Locals spotted multiple police vehicles at the scene, with the bus involved remaining on Chambers Street whilst officers investigated. The identity of the pedestrian involved is unknown.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11pm on Wednesday March 15, police were called to the Chambers Street area of Edinburgh, following a crash involving a bus and a female pedestrian.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries, and the road reopened around 2.40am.”
