Edinburgh RNLI was called out to multiple stranded locals on two islands of the Firth of Forth over the weekend. On Sunday, July 3, the South Queensferry crew raced to a broken-down speedboat on Incholm Island.
On the way back from the distress call, the pagers sounded again later that afternoon for two people potentially stranded on the popular Cramond Island. Volunteers were deployed to rescue the individuals that had been caught out by the tide.
Posting the weekend's action on Facebook and highlighting their hard work, the South Queensferry RNLI team said: "Sunday, 3rd July, the lifeboat was called out in back-to-back calls for people stranded on two islands of the Firth of Forth.

"At 4.01pm, the pagers alerted the volunteers that three people and their broken-down speed boat had experienced a loss of power and were stranded on Incholm Island. The crew of the stricken vessel were found well, all had buoyancy aids and a means of communication. The lifeboat crew towed them back to Port Edgar and were met by the local Coastguard team.
"Whilst the volunteers were heading back to the station, the pagers sounded again at 6.30pm for two persons stranded on Cramond Island, they had been cut off by the tide. The lifeboat proceeded to the island and returned the persons to Cramond Harbour, again met by the local Coastguard team."
The team are regularly relied upon by individuals in distress while out in the Firth of Forth, as well as those visiting islands like Cramond which can sometimes be difficult to evade the tide. In recent months, the RNLI has come to the rescue of countless sailors, swimmers, and even pets that have issued a distress call.
