Popular French restaurant Chez Jules has hit back at an 'offensive' review on Tripadvisor.
Chez Jules is nestled in the city centre, on Hanover Street, much loved by locals and attracts visitors with their cosy french eatery and affordable lunch deal.
However, one customer left a somewhat scathing review on Tripadvisor to which Chez Jules quickly responded to, calling it 'offensive, hurtful and insulting', adding that the owner's mum would be 'turning in her grave'.

Taking to Tripadvisor, the diner warned people not to go to Chez Jules after claiming the staff were rude and were charged for wine they had drunk, while waiting over an hour for mains.
The fuming customer wrote: "Not only was our night at Chez Jules a disappointment, it was an entire clusterf**k of an experience. Let me start at the beginning when trying to book a table. I spoke to a very rude woman who told me they only have a table free after 9pm, before I had a chance to book said table, she hung up on me."
The diner then went on to explain she phoned again and claimed the staff member replied, "oh you want the table now?". She was booked in for 9.45pm and when she phoned again to confirm, she was told it was booked in 8.45pm, instead.
"Great an hour earlier, we were happy to go with that. Arriving we were greeted fairly well, a few smirks of displeasure at our arrival (reading other comments that's okay as is the norm at Chez Jules). We asked to sit outside as the oven of a restaurant should have been hot enough to keep any food warm, but more on that in a bit.
"We were given some free appetisers (they stressed free to imply we should enjoy them) which consisted of two Milano salami slices (Italian?), some store bought baguette and five lettuce leaves soaked in mayo. We ordered our wine (best thing about the place) and awaited our food.
"As a starter we ordered mussels; first batch stone cold, second batch little warmer with no broth or garlic or in fact anything to add flavour at all. It took 45 minutes to get the starter and around two minutes to get the second replacement, no need to be a detective to figure out how they prepared these mussels.
"Well I returned them as well and asked just to bring the mains out. We calculated we were there 1hr 20mins when still no mains arrived, no one asked if we were okay or wanted more wine which had depleted by that stage of the night.
"Me and my partner decided enough was enough and I went to pay for the wine (which we drank) and asked to leave. The woman slammed her fingers on the till deleting our starters (still on there?) And mains then charged us for the wine; her smirk was more displeasing than the last girl's.
"I begrudgingly paid for the wine and left. Hey I get it we drank it but some small shred of dignity would of compt the wine for the horrible experience we had there. DO NOT GO TO CHEZ JULES!"
Quickly responding, Chez Jules stated they were happy they weren't returning, calling the review 'insulting and hurtful'.
They wrote: "I am so glad you won’t be back. First your choice of language is totally unacceptable! Furthermore I find your review offensive, hurtful and insulting. I'll add that it also shows a distinct lack of knowledge and taste regarding simple French food, it also lacks basic knowledge of the workings of a popular restaurant!
"But first the insulting part : Our green salad is not just 'five leaves in Mayonnaise'. How dare you! First it is a round lettuce that has been grown, chosen and properly looked after so as to be able to be served crisp and all in a bowl to you. My mum must be turning in her grave when I read that you dare comparing her dressing with a "mayonnaise".
"Not only it is a proper Mustard French vinaigrette, carefully weighed and emulsioned, it is also more than 50 years of care and attention that turns a simple green leaf in a delightful salad, the right Mustard from Dijon, a tasted red wine vinegar, simple oil and a hint of salt and pepper... and love and care!
"The baguette? Not store bought but bought yes! And imported from France from a French company, freshly baked for you in our ovens daily.
"Now if you cannot make the difference between a slice of “Milano salami” and a slice of “Rosette de Lyon” I suggest you spent some times researching their difference! They are not the same.
"Ah yes, my second point: Chez Jules is a really popular restaurant, it is busy because it serves good simple classic French food cooked to order to real people that loves our food and our service, both are provided by real people that really care at doing their job well and this for over 30 years. People… I hope that you would have realised that “People” is the key word here, sometimes things can go a little wrong. We are all only human! I am so glad you won’t be back!"
