Edinburgh restaurant hits the market after closure of beloved local eatery

A restaurant and bar in Leith has gone up for sale after a popular diner announced they were closing.

Bundits of Leith served colourful street-style bao buns on Constitution Street but sadly announced they were closing the doors for good.

Now with the signage fading away, the restaurant is up for sale for £675,000.

The new owners can enjoy a large dining space with a bar and kitchen. Customers also walk through a courtyard before arriving into the main bar and an additional front entrance leads into a second public area.

The advert of Rightbiz points out that the property can be divided into four different areas - main bar, raised restaurant area (with its own entrance/exit), rear ground floor function area and mezzanine level function area.

Speaking about the location, it also adds: "Leith continues to thrive under continued long-term redevelopment that has lasted well over 20 years. Leith and Constitution Street are also scheduled to be one of the significant beneficiaries of the extension of the tram network due to fully open in the summer.

"This will connect Leith and Newhaven on a direct link with Edinburgh Airport via the city centre. In terms of the business the “Shore” tram stop is located right outside the front door of the business offering immediate visibility to commuters and visitor."

Bundits of Leith first opened their doors in June 2021, battling the challenges of the pandemic and tram works. But in February 2023, the team decided to call it a day.

Posting on social media, Bundits of Leith said: “This one is going to suck, but here it goes.

“You all know it’s been a very difficult year in the industry (transition from the pandemic, utility costs, staffing issues, rising prices of produce and constant uncertainty to name a few).

“Needless to say it all had a massive knock on effect on our Leith venue, which due to its size alone has been hugely affected by a lot of these factors. Add the ongoing tram works, which completion kept getting pushed back to the mix and it all becomes a bit much.

“December was a lot quieter than we’d had hoped for and it knocked us for six. What sucks the most, is that it’s been so much better since, but it is now apparent that sadly Bundits of Leith will not be able to carry on in this capacity and today will be our last service.

“We are absolutely gutted but whilst this place is going, we won’t stop racking our brains. We are ending our Leith journey on a high, and we are so proud of what we achieved on Constitution Street.

“We have been really busy, especially recently, and still have big dreams and would absolutely love it if you would support our future gigs. Thanks pals.”
