Edinburgh restaurant hits backs after customer blasts 'Disney staff' in scathing review

A diner has hit out a Miller & Carter restaurant in Edinburgh and claimed he felt 'overdressed' for the 'Brewers Fayre experience'.

The customer gave the Cramond Brig eatery a scathing two star review on TripAdvisor - despite admitting the steak was 'cooked to perfection'.

Following their recent visit, the diner felt the need to leave the critical feedback and cited poor decor and furniture, staff running about 'like headless chickens' and chips arriving five minutes late.

They summed up their thoughts by saying: "All in all, I regret wearing a shirt as felt very over dressed for what amounted to a cheap chain restaurant."

Miller & Carter responded to the customer to say 'we hope you can give us another chance in the future'.

Titled 'A Brewers Fayre experience', the diner's review said: "The carpet was threadbare, the layout and decor was not what you’d expect from the rep of 'Miller & Carter'.

"We were sat in our seats, the table was like the kind you’d buy cheap for a back street boozer, as were the chairs. My chair was loose in all the wrong places and I was reluctant to move about to much for fear of it giving way.

"The atmosphere confirmed the Brewers Fare vibe, music too loud and staff rushing about but with seemingly no end goal for them - the term headless chickens springs to mind. After ordering our meal from the staff member who would be more suited to children's TV or Disneyland with the over the top fake responses, we proceeded to watch numerous waiting staff drop food and clump about the place.

"The steak was cooked to perfection, however I had to wait 5 minutes for the chips to come out and another 5 minutes for the side of greens, I may be crazy, but I like my food to come out at the same time."

Miller & Carter's reply said: "We pride ourselves on providing exceptional service, so we are disappointed to hear that your visit with us was anything less than satisfactory.

"Here at Miller & Carter Cramond Brig, we are always looking for ways to improve; we really appreciate your feedback.

"We hope you can give us another chance in the future. Take care!"

The Miller & Carter restaurant, based on Queensferry Road, generally garners favourable reviews, with a 4 out of 5 rating from over 1,000 diners on its TripAdvisor page.
