Edinburgh restaurant gutted as 'drunken idiot' caught on CCTV wrecking display

An Edinburgh restaurant have been left devastated after a 'drunken idiot' destroyed their expensive outside display.

The Pakora Bar in the Canongate issued a desperate appeal to customers this week after the individual caused 'thousands worth of damage' to their frontage.

Posting a selection of CCTV footage from outside their restaurant, staff said the individual had been caught on camera shortly after 4.30am.

Approaching the expensive flower garlands around their windows and doors, the man could be seen ripping them off of the wall before making off minutes later.

Furious at the behaviour, the restaurant said they have reported the incident to the police, and urged anyone with information to get in touch with them.

Staff said: "Some drunken idiot decided to rip down out outside flower decorations causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

"This is where we need your help, please share and spread the word so we can find the man responsible for this. Hospitality as been hit hard the past few tears, and for now this to happen is horrific.

"If you or anyone you know think you may recognise this man, then please come forward and we can deal with it all anonymously."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers have received a report of damaged to a property on Canongate, Edinburgh, around 4.30am on Tuesday, 23 August, 2022.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
