Edinburgh restaurant boss apologises to customer for 'overzealous' bar tender

An Edinburgh restaurant has apologised after a disgruntled customer complained about the bar staff.

Rated four stars on Tripadvisor, Boozy Cow, in Edinburgh is known for their indulgent burgers and aesthetically pleasing cocktails. However one customer was left unimpressed after they were told that they 'weren't welcome' by a member of staff.

The customer wrote: "Dropped in for drinks. Sat down at empty bar. Literally ran out of the place when an overzealous barmaid ran over to say we were not welcome reservations only.

"Place half empty. Doesn't say much if they cant cope with two beers. Ah well plenty more decent establishments in lovely Edinburgh."

The Boozy Cow boss quickly replied admitting that they agreed with the customer and said: "I couldn't agree more, if you can't sit down at the bar for a quick drink, then what are they doing? This should not have been the case, and for that I apologise.

"Here at the Boozy Cow, we strive to make everyone's experience of the level they want to return. I hope you are willing to return and give us another go, I promise it will be of a more positive experience."

It seems that other customers had a more 'positive experience' with 586 out of 1,109 reviews rating it excellent on the review website and 244 classed it as 'very good'.

One customer said: "Me and my girlfriend struggled to find a place for drinks, after finding boozy cow we loved to see great friendly staff, good atmosphere and excellent vibes. Highly recommend the cocktails, good prices too."

Another commented: "The bar was pretty busy and everyone was eating which is always a good sign. I was really impressed with our food. We got the best burgers we've ever eaten and they're huge! Sides are extra but they're generous portions so you can share a portion of chips between two or three people. Our server Sophie was very friendly and helpful. She was smiling when she greeted every customer and nothing was too much trouble.

"The Boozy Cow is not going to be your cup of tea if you don't like loud music! It definitely has a student/young vibe."
